Klaklo — lovingly known as Banana Fries or Fritters — is a cherished street snack across Benin Republic, Accra, Cameroun, Togo 🇹🇬, Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮, and many parts of West Africa. These golden, crispy treats are made from ripe bananas, perfectly balancing natural sweetness with just a touch of salt.

Now, listen — my mom warned me not to trust everything I see on the internet, but did I listen? Nope. I tried frying them in palm oil like y’all suggested. Not gonna lie, it wasn’t bad… but using other vegetable oil is still a win!

Variations:

  1. You can use different types of cassava flour for any of the recipes or fresh cassava itself.
  2. If you prefer to not use cassava, try corn flour instead of all-purpose flour for a different texture.
  3. Use plantains instead of bananas for a deeper, richer flavor.

Ingredients It Favours:

  • Banana
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Vegetable or red oil

Steps:

  2. Add 3-4 banana in a bowl and mash, 2
  3. Sprinkel a little salt and add half or 1 cup of flour and mix till perfectly blended, 3
  4. Pour oil in pot to heat a for 1-3 minutes, 4
  5. Add little balls of the mix to oil and let it fry, 5
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Steps:
